Equipment:
- Hair bands
- Hair brush
- Hair grips
5 strand plait -
- Separate your section into 5 strands and from left to right name the strands 1 2 3 4 and 5.
- Take strand 1 and put it over strand 2 and then under strand 3 so that strand 1 is now in the middle. Hold strand 2 and 3 by pulling to keep the plait tight.
- Now take strand 5 and put it over strand 4 then under strand 1 making strand 5 the middle strand.
- Hold tight onto strand 1 and 4 and let go of strand 2 and 3.
- Now that strand 2 is the outside strand on the left repeat the same technique you did when strand one was the outside strand by putting it over strand 3 and then under strand 5.
- Continue to do this method on each outside strand until you get to the bottom of the hair and 5 strand plait is complete.
- To secure tie a hair band at the end.
It took a couple times for me to get it right but it is really easy once you know what your doing.
Waterfall plait -
- Create this plait from the side front to back of the hair.
- Start by creating one plait with 3 strands.
- On the next plait of the strand drop the middle strand and then pick up a new strand and introduce it into the plait.
- Continue to do this through out the plait.
- When completed, pin the end of the waterfall plait into the hair to stay secure.
- You can also create another plait underneath and join the top one into it.
- To do this create a plait and join the middle sections that dropped from the plait above as you go along the plait.
- Secure the end with a pin into the hair.
When I did this method the hair had a bouncy texture and wouldn't flow properly when I dropped the middle strand.
Slip Tie Knot plait -
- Section the hair into 4 or 5 sections from the top of the hair to the bottom.
- Working your way from top to bottom, take the front top section and split this section down the middle into 2 strands.
- Tie a knot and then get the model to hold the sections, keeping them tight.
- Take the next section and, again, split the section into 2 strands and tie them in a knot.
- Get model to hold these strands too.
- On the next section split them into two and join the strands from the 1st section into these strands on each side.
- Now tie these strands into a knot.
- On the 4th section, again, split it into 2 strands and now join the 2nd section strands into the these strands on each strand and tie a knot.
- Repeat this on the last section so that the 3rd strands join the 5th section strands and tie a knot.
- You can finish this look by plaiting any remaining hair at the bottom or rolling the remaning hair under the bottom securing it in with pins.
I found this method really easy to do and am happy with the outcome.
Pull plait -
- Create a normal three strand plait
- when finished pinch an end of one of the strands and pull the other two up that strand.
This method is really is to do but I found it hard to make this style look how it should.
